I had the wonderful opportunity to have fun decorating this lovely home, while making a life long friend. This is a home in Tennessee, it is not my home. Enjoy. Want to submit your shabby cottage? Email me here. I will reply back with a special form for you to send back along with your pictures. I will need as many as possible!!

shabby and chic shabby n chic decorating is definitely for me. I just love it. It makes me feel comforted, I am relaxed, a peaceful feeling is what it brings me.

shabby and chic shabby n chic decorating to me is defined by using mostly white and other shades of white on your furniture. A few other soft pastel colors here and there. Soft lighting, lamps, chandeliers and candles are a must. And the more sparkle you can add to the home, the better. Art work needs to be soft and muted. Wood frames need soft paint wash or shades of white, silver frames are good too!!!

Flowers are a splendid way to bring softness to a room, roses and peonies are a staple for the shabby and chic style decorating job. If you choose silks, be particular. The better quality, the more realistic look they have. Throw rugs are splendid .

Put things in a room that you normally wouldn't put. A step ladder can be used as a plant stand in your entry or kitchen or a towel rack in the bathroom. Use an old dresser in the center of the kitchen for an island and put a small ledge on the opposite side with some decorative brackets and slide a couple small bar stools underneath.

Take a peek at the shabby and chic style Cottage Decorating job I did in TN. The couple is very much at home here. Take a peek.

To the left, entry. Candles, a small spot to sit, and welcoming items. A place to drop the keys and ditch the shoes out of site.

Come on in and take a peek at what else I did for this home. It truly is a shabby and chic style shabby n chic decorating passion.

To the right, a spot tucked around the cabinets to look at recipe's and keep the cook books. Perfect for your shabby cottage shabby n chic.

Perfect spot to mix a batch of cookies up while just the right height for Grandma's special boy to watch.

A china hutch is not just storage here. It's doors are left open to showcase the beautiful family china.

Gorgeous plate racks are hanging on the inside of each door to hold and show even more of the splendid china.

Only the best silk swag draped over top, cascading over the edge.

I painted the entire cabinet Dover White by Sherwin Williams. It is an eggshell finish. And has been slightly sanded in spots.

Wonderfully Shabby and Chic.

Vintage Doilies are laid on each shelf, in random order. None of the doilies are the same. And arrange them so they are hanging off the edge of the shelves. It makes a lovely statement. More of the family pieces.

Tiny little lights are inside the cabinet. You can drill a small 1" hole in the back of the cabinet to drop the cord through. Also, tiny Christmas lights are sweet scattered about on the shelves tucked under dishes and doilies.

No detail is overlooked. The dog is very much part of the family, so she has her food and water in crystal on a silver platter. (Left)

To divide the living area from the dining, an exquisite silk arrangement and tall table lamps and many family photos are arranged on the sofa table, but still the view of the dining area can be seen, yet feels separate.
